Why we are here

Because I am still meeting a lot of new people, I will often get asked "why did you move here?" I think it's partially to get to know me but I also think people are curious because Coos County is not exactly economically thriving and we moved from a bigger city.

It's easy to answer about Josh's job and leave it. But deep down I know it's so much bigger than that. Yes, God provided the job where we are reaching children and families for Him. But that's not my position. That's not what I spend my day doing.

I spend my day with my children, working around the house, or meeting for play dates. Why did I move here?

God moved our family for His glory. He moved our family for our good. God gave us the love that we have for this city. We love it here because God worked in our hearts as He prepared us to move. He moved our family to make an impact for Him. That is being done in Josh's job at church. He's working in tremendous ways. Praise God! But it's also being done as I mother. As I learn to be more like Him, through my daily and often mundane tasks.

I meet a lot of mothers who have visions of another life. Of days filled with tasks that seem far more significant. In those times, Satan wins the battle of robbing them of the joy that God is providing. God wants us to listen to Him, take the joy He is offering, and make an impact RIGHT WHERE WE ARE AT.

We sang this song on Sunday. It was very encouraging to me as I'm excited to see God work in this city that we've grown to love! We're excited to reach those around us for God's glory and kingdom!

I hope you feel challenged right where you are too. I hope God is working in you to know why you're doing what you are doing. I hope God gives you a love for those around you.

(You will need to go to the bottom of my blog and pause the music in order to hear this song)
